Nathan Myhrvold is an American Businessman, he has a net worth of $650 million. Nathan Myhrvold has earned his net worth from his former position as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Microsoft, and he is the co-founder of Intellectual Ventures. Myhrvold currently holds 17 U.S. patents, most with co-inventors that are assigned to Microsoft. Nathan was born in Seattle, Washington on August 3, 1959; he started college at the young age of 14. As a Princeton alumnus he earned a master's degree in mathematical economics and also a PhD in theoretical and mathematical physics. As a youth he studied at the Los Angeles based Mirman School for the Gifted. He then went to UCLA and studied Mathematics, geophysics, and space physics, where he was awarded a Fellowship for graduate study by the Hertz Foundation and chose to attend Princeton. In addition to all this education Myhrvold studied with Stephen Hawking at the University of Cambridge, where he held a postdoctoral fellowship for one year. This pair of geniuses studied cosmology, quantum field theory in curved space time and quantum theories of gravitation. Nathan has been an overachiever since a very young age completing two master's degrees and a Princeton Ph.D. in theoretical and mathematical physics by the age of 23. Myhrvold also attended Santa Monica College, and co-founded an Oakland, California based computer start-up company called Dynamical Systems Research Inc. The purpose of DSR was to produce Mondrian, a clone of IBM's Top View multitasking environment for DOS, DSR was later purchased by the Microsoft Company in 1986. During his 13 years working at Microsoft, Nathan founded Microsoft Research in 1991. In 2000 Myhrvold co-founded Intellectual Ventures, after leaving Microsoft.
