American Top 40 host/Shaggy voice Casey Kasem and his wife Jean Kasem have officially listed their house in Holmby Hills and it comes with some of the craziest amenities in town. First, here’s Jean for a little cognitive dissonance, quoted in the LA Times: “We tried to make it a home, not a mansion.” Now here’s what that home includes: a motor court fountain “built around an ornate piece of the Brooklyn Bridge,” a hair salon, a design studio, a library, a bathroom with a fireplace, a par-three golf course designed by Bobby Trent Jones, and a heart-shaped pool with two bathhouses. The James Dolena-designed main house is 12,000 square feet and has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, plus a dining room, a barroom, a butler’s pantry, and about a million more fireplaces; the 2.4-acre property also includes a guesthouse, a north-south tennis court, two garages, and fruit trees and formal gardens. Casey bought the property for Jean in 1989 when she was pregnant with their daughter–they’d been living in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel–and Jean has spent the intervening decades continually tweaking and renovating. Asking price is $42 million. · 138 N MAPLETON DR [John Aaroe Group]
